

Edwin Joseph Gardner, age 77, of Phoenix, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born on August 17, 1939 to the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Monahan) Gardner in New York City, New York. Edwin worked as an Electrician for The Local Union #3 and American Express. He was one of the last electricians to have worked on the building of both towers of the World Trade Center. On October 8, 1961 he married Anne P. Martin in Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Manhattan. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, camping, boating, and exploring Arizona. Edwin is survived by his loving spouse of 56 years, Anne; four children, Paul Gardner of New River, Laureen (Scott) Easton of Genoa City, WI, Robert Gardner of Buckeye, and Christopher (Angela) Gardner of Desert Hills; a brother, Dennis (Karen) Gardner of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eileen Pallas.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11001 N. 40th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85028 with Graveside services to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Edwin’s name are suggested to the Hospice of the Valley or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
