I had the pleasure of being Eileen's department chair during her entire career at Horizon High School. Like many others, I was in awe of her energy and enthusiasm, and her enormous love for her students and her subject. Eileen could be found early in the morning, through her lunch and after school, in her classroom, working with students on algebra problems. And, as I learned, those tutoring sessions went on into the evening at her home. A teacher of extraordinary dedication and consummate professionalism, Eileen gave her all every day. "The Leprechaun," as we knew her, was far mightier than her stature would suggest, and her students were the beneficiaries of her strength and dedication. If there is a higher place in heaven for those with selfless devotion, Eileen is there now, likely looking for a soul who could use a little help with quadratic equations. Rest in peace, my friend. You have earned it.
