Ellen Joanne Foster-March

Ellen Joanne Foster passed away on March 3rd, 2022 at the Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 20, 1956 at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Fred J. Foster and Vera (Pickett-Daniels) Foster. She was raised in Oceanside, California where she resided with her family for 21 years. Ellen graduated from Oceanside High School in 1974. She has resided in the Phoenix, Arizona area for the past 30 years.

Ellen grew up near the ocean and spent many of her younger days surfing and tanning on the beach or by a pool. She was a drummer in the Oceanside High School Marching Band. After high school she attended cosmetology school and spent many years as a hairdresser. She also worked in software support and computer programming. Ellen was very crafty and prided herself in the baton twirling costumes she designed and beaded for her daughter, and the countless birthday and wedding cakes she made and expertly decorated for family and friends. She recently enjoyed knitting, a craft she learned from her dear friend Denise Colby. Ellen enjoyed all things feline, collecting cat trinkets and spending time with her beloved cats. She would never turn away a kitty in need and she supported many cat rescue efforts. Ellen loved her family and her friends and would always take the time to recognize special occasions and birthdays by sending cards and notes of well wishes.

Ellen is survived by her daughter Denice Garcia and husband Edward of Cranston, RI, her daughter Laura Appel and her son Ronald Catron Jr both of Phoenix, AZ. and her grandchildren Andrew and Eric Garcia. She is also survived by her loving cats Whimsy, Dusty, Sky, Molly, Tigerlilly and Storm as well as her Aunt Eloise Hilligoss of Galesburg, IL, nieces, cousins and many friends.
