

Ernest Allen “Ernie” Fisch, 92, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully at Dahlia Assisted Living and Memory Care in Glendale, Arizona on October 24, 2023. He was born in Los Angeles, California on October 12, 1931, to Ernest and Margit (Nagy) Fish (his father had changed the spelling of his last name after immigrating from Germany; Ernie would later change the name back to its original spelling). He graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1949, then attended the University of California where he graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. After college, Ernie went to work for General Electric in Syracuse, New York. On July 26, 1958, Ernie was married to Patricia Ann “Pat” Ackerman in Syracuse, New York. In 1961, Pat and Ernie and their older son, Paul, moved to Phoenix where Ernie continued to work for General Electric. Ernie also worked as an electrical engineer for EMME, Goodyear Aerospace, and Sperry before he retired from Honeywell in 1990. He was an avid shooting enthusiast, patron of classical music, and collector of model trains.
Ernie is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia, and he is survived by his sons, Paul and John, two grandchildren, Josalyn (Norris) Kammeyer and Elizabeth Norris, and four great-grandchildren, Jordan King, Kierstin Kammeyer, Delaney Kammeyer, and Harper Kammeyer.
Interment will occur at Indian Mound Cemetery in Moravia, New York in a private ceremony on a date to be determined later.
