Our dear mother Estela Gonzalez sadly passed away on July 21, 2022, at the age of 65. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the senior community in Maryvale. We will miss the smell of her favorite coffee brewing in the morning.
Estela Gonzalez was born to the late Adrian Hernandez and Julia Hernandez, a miner, a rancher, a foreman, a family store owner and a homemaker, in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico on November 12, 1956. She was immersed in the Desert Sky Senior Center in her later life. She graduated from the Arizona State University in 1999 with a degree in social work and accepted a position as a Vocational Rehabilitation Case Worker for the State of Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona, where she worked for five years before retiring due to a debilitating medical illness.
Estela was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend, Jose Jesue Gonzalez, on February 8, 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona. Estela raised their six children with patience, resilience, perseverance, discipline and humility. She taught them to read, write, to love the apect of learning new things, to think for themselves, to always question and research for their answers when seeking the truth.
She herself, coming from a large family always made sure to instill the love of family onto her children. Making sure to be there for one another, including her extended family.
Estela was an educator even before she obtained her university degree. She was a proponent of learning and of higher education. She wanted her children to reach the stars, their goals and dreams. By instilling hard work, ethics and patience, her children strived to be the best they could be. She was kind yet demanding of equality for her children when it came to their education or if they were being bullied. She always made time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She will be dearly missedy by her loved ones.
