Evelyn M. Wood was born on January 20, 1928 in Batavia, New York to Frank and Betty Goff. Later she lived in Detroit, Michigan and was married there in 1949. In 1959 she and her young family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Evelyn worked various jobs, but in the end she retired from the Arizona Department of Transportation. At that time she lived in Sun City until her peaceful death in her home on June 20, 2018.
Evelyn is loved by her family. She vowed that she “loved them more”. Evelyn was a committed woman of great Christian faith, and she also had a quirky sense of humor. She taught her family so much.
Evelyn’s survivors in her immediate family include Elizabeth (Bruce) Bartinelli, daughter, Christine (Arthur) Johannesen, daughter, Frederick Wood, son. She has twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by two of her grandchildren.
A memorial will be held on July 18, 2018. It will start at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85027.
