

Frances Josephine Schnoebelen was born to George T. and Mary C. Heitzman Schnoebelen in Riverside, lowa on June 17th, 1926, the 7th of nine children. Her siblings were Zelma, Alvin, Vern, Herb, Dolores, Dorothy, Coletta and Anita.
Frances was baptized on June 20th, 1926, at the Church of St. Mary's in Riverside, lowa.
Her father died when she was ten years old, and her mother was able to raise nine children on her own. Frances learned a strong work ethic from her mother.
Frances graduated from St. Mary's High School in Riverside on June 3, 1945. She then attended the School of Nursing at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from 1945 until her graduation on September 2, 1948.
Frances married Cameron Loren Self on June 17h, 1950. Cameron worked for the U.S.
Public Health Service as a doctor, so they moved frequently during their marriage. They lived in Detroit, Michigan from July 1950 until July 1951. Their next post was St. Louis, Missouri from July 1951 until July 1953. They moved on to Baltimore, Maryland from July 1953 until July 1957. They made Norfolk, Virginia their home from July 1957 until March
1960. They went west to San Francisco, California from March 1960 until July 1965. in July
1965, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Cameron became the Chief of Pathology at Phoenix Indian Health Center.
Frances had two sons, Steven Cameron Self and Roderick Loren Self.
She worked as an R.N at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Sunnyslope, Arizona.
Frances received an associate in arts degree from Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona on May 15, 1975.
Frances loved to sew her own clothes and she also made several quilts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the movies.
Frances was a devout Catholic and her faith was her joy. She joined the parish of St.
Jerome's Church In Phoenix, and she had many close friends in her church circle. For several years, she worked on the Funeral Brunch committee. She attended mass faithfully and conducted bible study at her home. Her circle of friends was so important to her. She loved these people dearty. They were a huge support to her after Cameron died in 1989.
Family was hugely important to Fran, and she had a close relationship with her siblings and their children. She was the model of a doting mother, sister, aunt, great aunt and grandmother.
Frances was a devoted grandmother to her granddaughter, Kelsey Lauren Self. She was also an unfailingly loving mother-in-law to Becky Self. (Kelsey's mother and Rod's wife).
Frances is survived by her sister, Anita Mehaffey, sons, Steven Self and Roderick and wife Becky Self, granddaughter, Kelsey Self and 27 nieces and nephews.
