Frances "granny" Lee Webb

Frances Lee Webb, daughter of Claxton King Woods and Erma Loraine Evans, passed away on March 14, 2023, in Phoenix, Arizona. Frances was the second of five children, Florence Loraine (Rainey) Clifton is the eldest, Claxton King (C.K.) Woods, Jr. is the third, Gail Lynnette Woods is fourth, and the youngest is Roy Daniel (Danny) Gibson.

Frances’ early life was lived between Texas and Ohio before coming to Phoenix, AZ at the age of 18. She worked at the Revlon factory until just before its closure, and soon shifted her path to that of caretaker. Frances focused on raising her own children, as well as providing in-home daycare services for nearly 25 years. Once she officially retired from her day care, she was overjoyed in becoming ‘Granny’. She adored being a grandmother and her favorite thing to do was to sing ‘You are My Sunshine’ to each of her grandchildren and watching them play outside as they grew over the years. She expressed her love through big holiday meals and Sunday dinners, she was such a great cook. She would prepare enough to feed small armies, ready for any, and everyone to pop in. Frances was unknowingly funny, a little stubborn, but most of all, kind at heart. She was always willing to help when she could. She will be missed dearly but will live on through our many cherished memories of her. She was a key fixture in all our lives, we are sure she is preparing a great feast for when we join her.

Frances’ journey to heaven was preceded by her husband of 26 years, Woodrow Wilson, and daughter Natoya Mitchell. She is survived by each of her siblings. Her son Rashad Webb & wife Rachel and their daughters Tatyana, Laleha, Frances – her name’s sake, and their son Jadiah Ryan Hobbs. Natoya’s children, Jabril, Jeremiah, Josiah, and Jayda. Her son James A. Wilson. Her daughters, Shanice Mackinder & fiancé Ray Gomez, Allandra Mackinder & her daughter Jordyn, and sons Jayden & Nathan. Frances had many nieces, nephews and an extended family comprised of dear friends. The family is hosting a Celebration of Life on April 15, 2023, starting at 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. held at Hero’s Park – Ramada #2, located on Bethany Home Road just east of 83rd Avenue in Glendale, Arizona.
