After earning his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University, Frank began his career as a design engineer with Chevrolet Engineering in Warren, Michigan (1969–1980). He went on to serve as a mechanical engineer at the Arizona Public Service Company, contributing his expertise at the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant from 1980 until his retirement in 2011.
Frank’s passions included hiking in the desert and mountain trails he loved. He was an avid amateur astronomer who made his own telescopes and participated in local astronomy clubs. He was a skilled woodworker who provided several handcrafted pieces for family and friends, enjoyed playing bridge, and walking his dog, Lucy.
He was a devoted husband to Mary Honer of 56 years and a loving father to daughters Elizabeth Honer and Deborah Clavijo. He also cherished his son-in-law, Sergio Clavijo, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Perryman, and grandchildren Andre and Caroline Clavijo, who brought him immense joy.
Frank’s kindness, gentle humor, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
An open house celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Frank’s memory to Hospice of the Valley, whose compassionate care supports people and families in our community: https://hov.org/donate/donate-now/
