She was born on May 20, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan as the tenth child of Henry and Rachel Cohen.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Golob, of 54 years; her brothers Morris, Lou, and Abe; and her sisters Gertrude, Ann, Mollie, Bertha, Linda, and Marian.
She was an active member of the Temple Beth Emeth, Scottsdale where she attended shul each Saturday. Fran enjoyed playing cards and various games with friends, helping her neighbors, and spending time with her extended family in California, Oregon, North Carolina, and New York. Fran never missed an opportunity to celebrate a birth, a graduation, a wedding, a Passover dinner, or a Hanukkah party. Filling her refrigerator for visiting family members, and listening to their stories was something that truly brought her joy. She was the light in the room and the warmth in every conversation. Her ability to spread love and acceptance was infectious and this gift will be sorely missed.
Fran is survived by her daughter, Sheila and son-in-law, Mike, son, Barry and daughter-in-law, Lynn, sister-in-law, Shirley, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends who became family through the years.
A west coast celebration of life will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2019 in Hidden Hills, CA. An east coast celebration will take place in Durham, North Carolina in September. Her temple, Temple Beth Emeth, will be acknowledging her life during Hanukkah in December.
