Gary Dale Martinez

Gary Dale Martinez,67, Went to be with the Lord July 15, 2017. He was surrounded by his family in his Phoenix home.Gary was born in Phoenix Arizona to his parents, Barbara Ann (Ford) and James Manuel Martinez. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Gary dedicated his life to education, both for himself as well as for his students. Gary was a Phoenix Union High School History Teacher. He also participated as a substitute teacher for summers and after retirement. He volunteered as the wrestling and chess coach as well as a school score keeper. He himself was enrolled in college courses for leisure until Fall of 2015. Gary is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Wayne Martinez, in 1982, his father James Manuel Feb 2007 and his mother Barbara Ann April 7, 2009. He is survived by his brother, Jimmy (Arlene), Martinez, of Payson, AZ and his loving 4 nieces and 1 nephew. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM and the funeral will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Both at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85013, 602 249 - 2111. Uncle Gary will be placed at final rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern Ave. following the services. His love, loyalty and faith will never be forgotten Gary will be deeply missed and forever loved.
