Gary Dewayne Matthews

Heaven received a new angel. Gary Dewayne Matthews, born August 8, 1948, passed away on October 4, 2025, at 77 years old. He is proceeded in death by his best friend (since thirteen years old) and wife, Sharon. Gary leaves behind his daughter, Kristi Morris, and his son, Garry Matthews, as well as his seven little rascal grandchildren: Jennifer, Jillian, Garrison, Logan, Emma, Kennedy, and Layla. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Noelle, Ryan, Aubrey, Kaia, and Rory. Gary was in the Navy and proudly served our country in Vietnam. By trade he was a commercial superintendent for air-conditioning and heating. Gary always had a faithful heart for God. He will be remembered for his big heart and hilarious sense of humor that had impeccable timing! His motto was ”perfect is close enough.” He was a son, a husband, a dad, a father-in-law, a brother, a brother-in-law, a Papa, an uncle, a cousin and a friend. He was Superman to everyone who knew him. His dogs were an important part of his life; he loved to spoil them. Gary will forever be remembered for saying, “glad you got to see me today.” He will be missed and loved immensely until we reunite with him in heaven.
