Genie Chopiwskyj, age 73, passed away on May 16, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born on August 4th, 1947 in Hanover, Germany. Genie loved to dance and sing from an early age and after seeing dancers perform at a Christmas concert, she went in to the aisle and started putting on her own show. Her parents Osyp and Lekora Pidlashecky were finally allowed to emigrate to the US, where they settled in Chicago.
Genie attended school, and was involved in many activities, but always continued to love dance.
The family later moved to Phoenix, where Genie met her husband, Walter Chopiwskyj. They were married, and had two sons Eugene and Danylo. They were able travel and enjoy life for many years. Walter preceded her in death.
She is survived by Eugene Chopiwskyj of Phoenix and Danylo Chopiwslyj of Collinsville,
Illinois. Genie also had two grandchildren, Hannah and Jeren Chopiwskyj. Also left behind, Her Sister Halyna Grozdev, and loving Nieces, Darka, Ulana, and nephew Vic Grozdev. Also Luba and Marko Komar of Toronto, Canada.
