Georgia Verdine Hannon, age 68, of Phoenix, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019, at her residence. She was born on May 26, 1951, in Port Gibson, MS to the late Allen T. and Georgianna (Hill) Hannon. She attended Hammond Tech High School graduating class of 1969; then furthered her education at Purdue University and University of Texas at Arlington studying history and political science. In 1972, she married the late William Vaughn Jr. of East Chicago, Indiana. She divorced 4 years later in which she pursued her love of education and travel out west. She worked at St. Margaret’s Hospital, AT&T then ventured into the insurance industry as a medical coder/ biller and retired after 25 years. She enjoyed all genres of music, travel and dancing. She always said, “It is what it is”. Georgia is survived by her loving daughter, Dr. Kimara Vaughn; nine siblings, Allen Jr., Della, Punkin, Gerald, Linda, Martha, Darlene, Anita and Donna. Dozens of nieces, nephews and grandnieces/nephews; and many other loving family and friends. Per Georgia’s wishes her ashes will spread along the California coast. Memorial services will be 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the New Hope Too, 6634 Calumet Avenue, Hammond, Indiana 46324. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Georgia’s honor may be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. 1-800-822-6344.

I remember her as always smiling happy smoking skinny cigarette not weed but Virginia slims I think I wish we all had that close Hammond life but we all grow and pursue our dreams but we all act like we been sold off like slaves and cant find each other but Love U Antie R.I.H
