It is with great sadness that the family of Gladys “Mickey” Lucille Yates announces her passing at home on June 14, 2019, 16 days short of her 92nd birthday. As a longtime resident of the valley, she will be missed by all of her family and friends. Her sense of humor and witty comebacks will be remembered by all who knew her. She had a huge heart and her love was undeniable. She shared that love with everyone she met. Her greatest love was her kids. Mickey was born in York, NE on June 30, 1927, where she married Oren “Jay” Yates in 1944. They lived in York until moving to Phoenix in 1953, along with their two sons. After arriving in Phoenix and settling into their new home, they had another son and two daughters. She worked for over 30 years as a medical assistant and office manager for Dr. Rudy Kirschner. As if she wasn’t busy enough, she, along with our father, fostered over 50 children throughout the years sharing their love and their home with each one. Because of that love and kindness, they added 1 more son and 3 more daughters to our family and loved them each as their own. Awaiting her in heaven are her parents, Dorothy and Leslie Cormican; husband, Oren “Jay”; sons, Gary Moore, Bruce, Steve; and daughter-in-law Mary Moore. She is survived by her sisters, Lyn Friesen, Dorothy Potter, son, Denny (Kristi); daughters, Lyn (Scott) Dieterich, Terri Caba, Paula (Dave) Moore, Chris Garland, and Lisa Giardino. She also leaves behind 15 grandkids and 23 great grandkids.
A memorial service will be held June 30, 2019, 1:00PM at the Phoenix Memorial Park Chapel, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85027. A graveside service for family will be held on July 1, 2019, at the same location.
