It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Glenn Schmid on Tuesday February 25, 2026, at the age of 66 in Phoenix AZ. He passed peacefully in his sleep after fighting a long battle of surgeries and infections after open heart surgery in September.
Glenn was born in Jersey City, NJ. His family moved to Downingtown PA, and he attended Downingtown High School and West Chester University graduating with a bachelor's degree in Speech Communications. He met his wife at West Chester in 1981, and they traveled cross country several times. They married in 1985 and moved to Phoenix AZ the same year. Once in AZ he earned his paralegal certification from Phoenix College and began working for law firms as a paralegal. He then went to work for Courtney Marketing and finished his career as a publications technician for Paradise Valley School District for 20 years. He retired in 2021 after being diagnosed with end stage renal disease and going on kidney dialysis after double covid pneumonia.
Glenn enjoyed traveling, reading, playing video games and collecting comics, ornaments and action figures.
Glenn attended Highlands church and was a member of their tech team for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ruth (Massey) and George Schmid. He is survived by his wife Debbie (nee Mangigian) of 40 years, his son Jonathan (Reese), and brothers Scott and Randy (Ellen), and their daughters Caleigh and Makayla. He recently rediscovered his cousins Stephanie (Welcomer) (Mark) and Paul Welcomer (Catherine) and they enjoyed spending time together when they visited Phoenix and Sedona.
There is no service. He will be cremated and his ashes scattered at a special spot.
May God illuminate his soul in His eternal kingdom and grant peace to the surviving members of the family.
