

Guillermo C. Hernandez, 66 of Phoenix, Arizona, known to all who knew him as either Memo Or Famoso, passed away surrounded by family & friends on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Memo was met at the gates of Heaven by his father & younger brother Sigfrido Hernandez Sr. & Jr. Guillermo was born on September 27, 1951 in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. He was the son of Theresa Hernandez & the late Sigfrido Hernandez Sr. He was the 2nd eldest of 9 children. Guillermo was a featherweight boxer in Mexico (122lbs) from 1965-1968. That's where he earned the nickname El Famoso. His record as an amateur was 9 wins & 2 defeats; professional record 10 wins & 2 defeats. Guillermo was a retired street sweeper for The City of Phoenix, where he kept the streets of downtown Phoenix nice & clean for 14 years. Left to cherish his memories are his sons: Guillermo Jr & Cedrick Hernandez, daughters Zoveira Bustamante & Gabriela Rodriguez, grandsons Elijah Hernandez & Irvin Rodriguez, granddaughters Bre~Anna Hernandez & Laila Rodriguez, brothers Sergio, Hector, Raul, Carlos, & Guadalupe Hernandez, sisters Sandra Cordova & Maria Melgoza. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles who he loved very much.
A viewing will be held on January 31, 2018 from 12-4 pm at Advantage Colonial Funeral Home, 4141 N. 19th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85015. Guillermo will be cremated at a later date.
