Hal had many titles. A husband of 55 years. A father of three girls. A papa to eight grandchildren. The oldest of five siblings. An uncle. A friend. He was proud to hold each of these titles, but the one he cherished the most was the one his grandchildren used affectionately: The #1 Yes Man.
Those close to Hal McNaughton always knew how he felt. To his family, the phrase he said nearly every time he saw them was, “I love you.” He never wanted his wife, children, or grandchildren to wonder if they were loved. And in that, he succeeded.
Hal was born in Bakersfield, California, on December 21st, 1949. He was the son of Harold and Helen McNaughton and the brother of Riva, Dwight, Brad, and Stan. As a teenager, he met the love of his life, Deborah, during her visit to his family’s ranch. From that day forward, until Hal’s passing, their bond was inseparable. Together, they had three daughters: Tiffany, Christy, and Mindy; three sons-in-law: Mike, John, and Mike; as well as eight grandchildren: Austin, Lexie, Aaron, Caleb, Katie, Chloe, Quentin, and Bryson; and one grandson-in-law, Grant. They were also blessed with a great-grandson on the way, Elijah.
Hal proudly served his country in the National Guard and was very active in the veteran community. He was a successful businessman and college professor. Hal was always generous with his time and resources, pouring into various nonprofits throughout the years, including a school in the Philippines. He loved to travel and accomplished one of his bucket list items just months before his death: to see the pyramids in Egypt.
Hal will be deeply missed, but the good life that he lived will leave a long-standing legacy of love.
The Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 29th, at Dream City Church, located at 28700 N.
