Harley was a proud veteran of the US Navy. He served in Hawaii and Japan as an Electronics Engineer. He cherished his service time and his relationship with fellow sailor/brother Henry Garsee, his wife Carol and their family to the end of his life. After the Navy he was a pioneer in computers, building and refurbishing mainframe computers for IBM and Greyhound Computer Corporation.
Harley will always be known for his passion for family, God, and his country. He was known for his active interest in his family and connecting with their passions and interests. He was a good dad and grandfather. He happily became “Papa Hyatt” just like his own grandpa before him.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love for the Dallas Cowboys, and his ability to visit with anyone anytime. He had an uncanny ability to connect with wild animals and finding lost animals to bring home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 62 years, Maxine, daughter, Lisa Elizabeth, and son-in-law Christopher Fitzmaurice.
He is survived by his sisters Joleen Carter and Judy (Lynn) McVey, daughter Cathy and her husband Jack Johnson, and daughter Kerry Fitzmaurice; along with grandchildren Carissa and Jacob Johnson, Grace, Taylor, Bailey, and Payton Fitzmaurice.
