
A FATHERS LIFE In the annals of history, there are individuals whose lives embody the indomitable spirit of heroism, resilience, and unwavering dedication to justice. Harold Sam Jalowsky born on July 24, 1925, was such a man.
He is predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Toby Jalowsky. He leaves behind 3 sons, Scott, Edward and Herbert as well as 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Today we bid farewell to an extraordinary life of a World War II hero, a visionary educator, a tireless advocate for justice, and a beacon of hope for the Jewish community.
Harold's journey through life was marked by courage and selflessness. As one of the valiant soldiers who stormed the beaches of Omaha on that fateful D-Day +6, he faced the horrors of war head-on. Shortly after the invasion, fate dealt him a cruel blow, as he was critically wounded. His spirit remained unbroken, and his resilience became an inspiration to all who knew him.
During his arduous 2 year recovery in the hospital, Dad's path intersected with General Dwight D. Eisenhower. This encounter, a convergence of two great forces, left an indelible mark on him. It reaffirmed his belief in the transformative power of leadership and ignited a fire within him to dedicate his life to the betterment of society.
Driven by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a profound sense of justice he channeled his passion into establishing a business with our mother, Toby Jalowsky. The Academy of Business College empowered the less privileged, and opened the doors of education and opportunity, to those whom had been denied so much. This college became a sanctuary of learning, where dreams flourished, and where generations of women and men found the strength to overcome adversity and realize their potential.
As a member of the Ethical Culture Society, he actively participated in the fair housing movement. His unwavering dedication to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and combatting anti-Semitism was a testament to his unbreakable spirit. In the words of Winston Churchill, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Harold gave his life to the noble cause of justice, leaving an indelible impact on the lives of countless individuals.
Dr. Jalowsky's thirst for knowledge was unquenchable. Alongside his entrepreneurial pursuits, he earned a degree in psychology. His empathetic approach, his profound understanding of the human mind, and his unwavering commitment to helping others navigate life's challenges made him a trusted confidant and healer. His legacy will be intertwined with the lives he touched, offering solace, comfort, and a path towards self-discovery.
He was a devoted family man. He leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and the invaluable lessons he imparted upon his loved ones.
