Harriet lived in New Jersey until 1947 when she transferred to Arizona College (ASU) for her senior year, graduating in 1948. She taught elementary school for 40 years, retiring at the age of 62. Harriet loved the 25 years that she taught at Hopi Elementary School. She made friends with so many wonderful families and she was always happy when the students she taught years before would register their children and request her classroom. Harriet was also a life-long learner and achieved her MS: PhD EQ from NOVA University in 1984.
Harriet and the family were members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a treasured member of the congregation since 1960. Harriet always felt at home in the mountains. She loved her cabin in Greer where she spent summers for 25 years. Every Friday she hosted friends for a potluck and they played dominoes until the sun went down. She had a talent for painting, quilting and knitting. She enjoyed playing solitaire and doing crossword puzzles ~ and she loved chocolate!
Harriet was loved by so many people and she touched so many lives. She was a caring person who always had a positive outlook regardless of life’s circumstances. She will be deeply missed.
Harriet is survived by her brother, Dr. George Wisse Drach (Peggy Duckett); son, George Douglas Bohm; daughter, Joanne Marie Bohm; daughter, Deborah Sue Irwin (Bill); and daughter, Lori Ruth Peddie (Michael). She had 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
