Harriet Jane Kassay Fukuchi (known affectionately as “Kety”) was promoted peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ June 2, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander J. Kassay, her mother Rhea Margaret Orner Kassay, and her brother Robert. Kety is survived by and deeply
missed by her loving husband, Richard “Dick” Fukuchi, many nephews and nieces and a host of friends in the Phoenix area, in Pennsylvania, and throughout the world.
Kety’s life was characterized by her faith in and love for her Savior, and in her sincere, loving faithfulness to her friends. She treasured each friendship and poured understanding love, loyalty, and a listening ear into each one, whether that friendship was decades long or more recently developed. Hospitality with a touch
of fun, crazy antics and lots of laughter endeared Kety to all who knew her. Kety loved kids and kids loved Kety. She was an amazing teacher and her career in education was her delight. The love and honor with which she was revered by her students is demonstrated by the many former students and their mothers who have remained in her friendship for decades following their classroom experience. International travel gave Kety great joy. In addition to her years of missionary service in Latin America, she loved visiting and ministering to missionary friends in various parts of the globe.
It brings great comfort and peace to have the assurance that Kety is now rejoicing in the presence of her Savior, having received His welcome, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into My presence.” (Matthew 25:21) Memorial flowers and donations are gratefully declined in preference to Kety’s desire that, in her memory, you, her beloved family and friends, “love one another more deeply.”
