

We will miss her greatly and with much love and respect, we say goodbye. Helen was born in Deerbrook, Wisconsin, August 6, 1916, daughter of Mary Zgonc and Frank Zupan, immigrants from Austria. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Ross and son Dennis, and the last surviving sibling of Frank, Mary, Frances, Caroline, Stefania, Jacob, and John. Helen lived on a dairy farm in Wisconsin until she moved to Chicago where she met husband Frank.
Frank, Helen, and son Dennis moved to Phoenix in 1960. In Chicago she worked for Sunbeam and in Phoenix she worked for 20 years and retired from Motorola. Helen was a devout Catholic and attended Sts. Simon & Jude Cathedral for 52 years where she served her church in many capacities, particularly as a lector at the 6:15am and 8:30am daily masses.
She also was a faithful member of a church prayer group. Helen is survived in Phoenix by daughter-in-law Jean Ross, niece Patti Zupon, many nieces and nephews, step-son Bob and Verna Ross and children Diane, Robin and Chris and their children in Illinois.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 am with a Celebration of Life at 10:30 am followed by the rosary at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at A.L. Moore Grimshaw, 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix.
A reception at St. Bridget Hall at Sts. Simon & Jude Cathedral will begin at 11:30am. Funeral Mass will begin at 1:00pm. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Rd. Flowers are welcome, or donations to the Helen Ross Memorial Charity/Sts. Simon & Jude, Sister Loreto Special Needs/Sts. Simon & Jude, or Hospice of the Valley.
