Jim, as he was affectionately known, lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a passion for craftsmanship. After graduating from Somerset High School, he enlisted in the Army. His commitment to service was evident throughout his life.
Following his military service, Jim embarked on a career at Martin Lumber Company, where he spent many years honing his skills and contributing to the community. He had a natural talent for working with his hands and took great joy in building things, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship that will endure for generations.
A lover of the outdoors, Jim found solace and joy in hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Jim was also a lover of his many dogs. Whether it was casting a line on a tranquil lake or sitting in silence surrounded by nature while hunting. Jim treasured every moment he had on earth.
Jim married Ardi Dunnom and together adopted a son, Mitch. Jim and Ardi also fostered many children in their time together. They lived in Somerset WI until Ardi passed away.
Later Jim Married Cindy Sullivan. They lived in Somerset until they moved to Arizona, where they could be closer to Cindy’s Daughter and Grandchildren.
No matter where Jim’s life took him, having a loving and close-knit family was the cornerstone of Jim’s life. His weekly calls back to WI chatting with his siblings was one of his favorite things to do. He loved when he was able to visit and looked forward to his next trip, which was in store.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Gudelia Carufel, his wives Ardi Carufel & Cindy Carufel, and Brother Charles Carufel. He is survived by his son, his bonus children and their children, siblings, Harold (Pam) Carufel, Evelyn Carufel, David (Connie) Carufel, Sharon (Ronald) Rixmann, Larry (Lisa Belisle) Carufel, Susan Carufel, many nieces, nephews, and countless extended relatives and friends.
A man of integrity and kindness, Jim will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his steadfast friendship, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life with candlelight ceremony to follow for James will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Deer Valley Community Center Room 7, 2001 W Wahalla Ln, Phoenix, AZ 85027.
A celebration of life Visitation will also be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm with A Celebration of Life Funeral Mass and Burial to Follow at Saint Anne's Catholic Church, 141 Church Hill Rd, Somerset, WI 5402.
