After leaving the military, Jim spent time at New Mexico University where he decided to follow in his father's footsteps as a welder. Jim decided to join Local 469 in the field of pipefitter/welder in 1981 and spent 40 years as a member (retiree) before his passing. He spent his retirement playing golf with his good friends and spending quiet days with his wife. What an unexpected and devastating loss for his entire family and friends. Jim will be sorely missed by all.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lizanne Cooper; brother, Albert Cooper; daughter, Jamie Cooper-Valenzuela (Ben); son, Jason Cooper; and his grandchildren, Alyssa and Isaac Valenzuela. Jim is also survived by his brother-in-laws, John Flood (Connie), Richard Flood, Anthony Flood and many nieces and nephews.
