August 20, 1942 – November 1, 2025
It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Janet Shirley Kasper, 83, of Phoenix, Arizona, announces her passing on November 1, 2025. Janet was born in Wolseth North Dakota, to Oscar and Selma Loraas, and from the very beginning she brought joy, humor, and warmth to everyone she met.
Janet was known to many as the world’s greatest waitress, but to those who knew her best, she was the heart of the family — a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by the people she loved, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She was preceded in life and love by her parents, Oscar and Selma, and her son, Michael Decker Janet is survived by her children Carol Ann Cochran, Bob Labbe (Anni), Cindy Lynn Block (Mark), Shirley Jean Christianson (Craig) Wanda (Micheal) Decker; her spouses through the years Robert T. Labbe, James Decker, and Lee Kasper; and her cherished grandchildren Laura Doty, Joey Cochran, Shane Almond, Jennifer Wilson, Bobby Labbe, Shane Block, Jennifer Fjeld, Lindsey Block, Nicole Browning, Duane Christianson, and Jordan Christianson
Her love continues on through her 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her laughter and spirit.
Her 4 great, great grandchildren will carry her heart forever.
Janet lived her life with a sparkle in her eye and a laugh that could fill a room. She found happiness in simple things — a shared story, a good meal, or a quiet moment with family. Her warmth, humor, and kindness will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories, laughter, and love in her honor.
Though she may be gone from our sight, Janet’s laughter and love will live forever in our hearts.
