Janice Elizabeth Heaton born October 3, 1983, aged 41, was called back to her heavenly home on Saturday June 21, 2025. Janice was born in St. George, Utah, the 2nd child of Paul and Morena Kreyling. In her early life, Janice enjoyed dancing, crafting, and giving service. She was a devoted sister and daughter. She attended Snow Canyon High School where her father taught math. While in St. George, Janice worked for an early intervention / head start program for disadvantaged children. Janice loved children. Janice and her husband Jonathan David Heaton met through mutual friends
and on April 14, 2006, Janice married Jon in the St. George Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Shortly after getting married, Janice and Jon moved to Enoch, Utah. While there, Janice gave birth to her first 2 children. In 2011, Janice and her family moved from Utah to Arizona seeking better employment opportunities. After moving to Arizona, Janice grew her circle of friends and loved ones. Janice fostered 6 children, adopted 3 children and was a surrogate mother to many more.
Janice loved to travel. She kept a scratch off map of all the places she had been around the world on her wall. Janice spent 11 days traveling across Europe on a girl’s trip with friends and family. She enjoyed road trips and seeing new places. Mostly though she loved traveling with her children and giving them adventures.
While in Arizona, Janice was able to become close with the women in her husband’s family, commonly known as the Sapp Women. They were an incredible source ofstrength to her and her family. The Sapp Women would go on regular adventures and
retreats that Janice loved. Janice also loved and was loved by a very close group of friends who were a constant source of strength to her.
In 2022, Janice felt a swollen lymph node in her neck. After a month, another lymph node began to swell. Shortly afterwards, Janice was diagnosed with stage 3 triple- negative breast cancer. She received incredible care and after 18 months of grueling treatment achieved a complete response. Janice began to live life again, making
precious memories with all the time she had. After 8 months, signs began to show that the cancer had returned. This time it was even more aggressive.
Janice fought the disease with everything she had. She was an incredibly compliant patient doing all the instructions given to her by her doctors. Eventually, treatment options became limited, and Janice opted to begin clinical trials not just in hope of finding an effective treatment, but more so to provide more data to hopefully help find a cure for another mom out there experiencing the same thing. She was always more concerned about others than herself. After 10 months, Janice succumbed to the effects of the cancer holding her husband’s hand.
Janice is survived by her husband (Jon), 5 children (Kaylee Isabella, Regan James, Zoe Grace, Vala Anne, Ronon Flynn), mother (Morena), father (Paul), sisters (Jackee and Samantha) and brother (Barry).
Services celebrating Janice’s life will be held on Wednesday July 2, 9am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 4901 W Union Hills Dr, Glendale, AZ 85308. A viewing will be held at the same location the previous night, Tuesday July 1, from 6- 8pm.
