

passed away peacefully on September 3, 2011, surrounded by the love of her family. She fought a long, valiant fight with pancreatic cancer and was 76 years old. Jean was born in Chicago and attended Thornton High School and Bradley University. She married at 21 and after many moves with her husband Bob and 3 kids, arrived in Scottsdale in 1973 and quickly made many lifelong friends. Jean started working in the Escrow/Title industry and was quickly promoted based on her smiling personality , intelligence and work ethic. Jean was in high demand and eventually settled at Countrywide Mortgage for over 8 years. After retiring she continued to work part-time. Jean's special skill was making people feel special. She had a smile that would light up a room and never knew an enemy. She was a very skilled bridge player belonging to many bridge groups throughout her life. Jean was a devoted mother to her kids and wife for 24 years to James Friel, who preceded her in death in 2010. She will be greatly missed by everyone and is survived by her daughter, Julie Miller and two sons, William Miller and Robert Miller, as well as her stepchildren Doreen Reinke, Dennis Friel and David Friel. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and her loving angel Tanner. Services will be Saturday, September 10th at 10:30AM at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd.
