Jeanne T. Strom, 84, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Ryan House in Phoenix, Arizona with her loving family at her side. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on December 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Harold and Rena Thomas. Jeanne graduated from GAR Memorial High School in 1949. After graduation Jeanne moved to Boston, MA where she married and later moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota where she started her family. She later moved to Otego, New York where she resided for 20 years and worked at the James Miline Library at the State University College at Oneonta, NY. In 1972 she moved to Denver, Colorado where she resided for the past 43 years. While working for FEMA and HEW in Denver, she also attended Community College. Jeanne will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her greatest love of all was her family. She also loved the spirit and experience of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. One of her greatest contributions was volunteering her time, love and support to the Foster Grandparent Program and the Colorado Division of Aging and Adult Services. She loved to volunteer her time to help others, play solitaire, do crossword puzzles, enjoy the Colorado and Phoenix Symphony’s and Broadway shows with her daughters, and share her laughter and love of jokes with her family and friends. She loved to travel and her favorite destinations included New York City and Vail, Colorado. Jeanne is survived by her son, James (Jane) Strom of Castle Rock, CO; daughters Lois (Rod) Gould of Unadilla, NY; Nancy (Dave) Perling of Phoenix, AZ; Jo Ann (John) Kishbaugh of Unadilla, NY; brother, Richard Thomas of Moscow, PA; five grandchildren (Chris, Erin, Megan (Jason), Emily and Wren), one very special great-grandson Charlie, and several nephews. A private family memorial service will be at 10a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the home of Nancy & David Perling, with Cristiano Artigas, Chaplain, Hospice of the Valley, officiating. It was Jeanne’s wish that her ashes be scattered in the Rocky Mountains, a place near and dear to her heart. Jeanne’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of the Valley staff at Ryan House for the compassionate and phenomenal care she received. We also want to thank Dr. Jeanne Rozwadowski who was Jeanne’s physician, compassionate advocate and friend for many years. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Jeanne, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656. If donation is by check please note on the memo line that it is a donation for Ryan House in memory of Jeanne Strom. Donations can also be made on line via the link http://www.hov.org/donate. Jeanne encountered adversity many times
in her lifetime. During those times and with her recent battle with cancer, Jeanne always said “You have to keep your faith and sense of humor” and C’est la vie which means “that’s life”. Her faith, attitude and sense of humor allowed her to get through the most difficult life challenges.
