It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved Jeff, departed this life on July 3, 2022. Jeffery Eugene Petersen was born on January 23, 1961 in Phoenix, Arizona to Eugene Petersen and Lee Lennartz.
Jeff was an Arizona native. He graduated from Sunnyslope High School. In his early career, Jeff was an EMT and later went on to fulfill his life long dream to become a firefighter/paramedic. Proudly, he completed the Academy with Honors. Jeff served 16 years with the Daisy Mountain Fire Department in Anthem, Arizona. Jeff took great pleasure in being a firefighter and valued the camaraderie.
Anyone who knew Jeff, knew him to be a kind, loyal, caring man who possessed a great love for animals, the mountains and nature. When he loved, he loved with his whole heart. He was an avid history buff and had a passion and extreme talent for woodworking. When Jeff retired in 2014, he spent countless hours working at the ranch, creating beautiful woodworking projects, spending time with his dogs and horses, and enjoying the outdoors.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife/partner Monica Heyn of 18 years; his parents, Eugene and Pauline Petersen; his brother, Jon Petersen (Shelleigh); his sister, Cathy Banovac (Rocky); his sister Karen Zoerb (Brad), and many nieces and nephews and their loving children.
We will all miss him more than words can say. Jeff touched the lives of so many and we honor a life cut too short. There will be a Celebration of Life held in his honor at Shadow Mountain Mortuary 2350 E. Greenway Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85022, on July 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM. A reception will immediately follow the service.
