Jerry “Jay” F. Dyer (71), a retired social worker and parole officer, devoted husband, and loving father, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. He was known affectionately as “Big Daddy” to many, a reflection of both his larger-than-life personality and the deep care he showed to those around him.
Jay dedicated his life to helping others, both through his professional work and his personal relationships. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard, and he often took great pride in having once stood watch over Air Force One.
Throughout his life, Jay embraced a wide range of interests and passions. He spent time as a disc jockey, gaining a modest local following, and found joy riding motorcycles alongside his beloved late wife, Cheryl.
Jay was predeceased by his parents, his son in law Talath Witharane, and his cherished wife of 15 years Cheryl Ann. He is survived by his children Erin Witharane, Jeffrey Cooper, and J Brenton Dyer and his grandchildren Evyn and Harry Witharane who carry forward his legacy of strength, humor, and compassion.
“Serving as an honorary pallbearer is long time friend and confidant Mr Randy Lunow”
