Jerry Lee Sparks, born April 10, 1948 to Curmal and Maxine Sparks went home to the Lord the morning of August 7, 2022. Jerry, one of two children. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio where he lived until the age of 5. With his family they made the move to Arizona, where he was raised. Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Curmal Sparks, mother, Maxine Sparks, son, Steven Michael, sister, Nancy Jane, wife, Janice. Jerry is survived by his nephew, Jerry Barrier (Trish), nephew, Rodney Moore, cousin, Steve Rhoden (Linda) and many loved ones and friends.
Jerry, from the age he could hold and handle a rifle, was always in the desert and forest hunting and camping with his father, family and friends. The desert for Jerry was his paradise on earth. In his later years it was not about the harvest of an animal, but the hunt to find them and admire them in their natural habitat, he would even give them names. The love of hunting was something that Jerry did not want to end with him, he would take time to show the youth the proper way to hunt and harvest an animal and respect the nourishment they give us. An Air Force Veteran, Jerry served his country in Vietnam and made a safe return home. Jerry worked as a licensed plumber for many years with family. In May of 1983 he began a career with Arizona Pipeline Company where he remained for 38 years. Jerry worked on many natural gas facilities as a pipefitter and plumber working his way to Superintendent over the plumbing and other natural gas maintenance operations. Jerry was a humble and private man who had a loving heart. Those who knew him were blessed to have him in their life. The stories he would share, the love he would express can not be measured, only admired and enjoyed. That is something that will live with us forever. Jerry was not only an outdoorsman, but also an animal lover. The cats and dogs knew where Jerry lived and he welcomed them in.
Keep Jerry alive in your hearts and memories. We will grieve for the loss we suffered, but we will rejoice knowing that his life is now eternal.
A graveside service for Jerry will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at Greenwood/Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
