She was born in Canada on December 9, 1939. She was married to Harold (Hal) Skowbo on February 10, 1968. She became a naturalized US citizen in 1969. Her citizenship in the United States meant a great deal to her.
Joan found her life calling as a teacher. She taught various grades for fifty years. She spent the last several years of her career teaching junior high French and English. She loved her students deeply and had much joy reminiscing about her students. Joan made friends easily and maintained many deep long friendships. Joan was a follower of Jesus Christ and her faith was the foundation of her life.
She is survived by many loving friends, her children, step-children, and grandchildren. At Joan’s request there will be no services. She encouraged people to live their appreciation for each other and not just wait until life ends.
