

He was born in Hayden, AZ on September 7, 1924 to John and Minnie (Fritz) Cartwright.
John served in WWII as a rescue pilot with the United States Coast Guard. He joined the Phoenix Police Department in 1946 and retired in 1968. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #2. John was an avid pilot and loved to fly his plane affectionately named the “Blue Bird”. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles.
John, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather was preceded in death by his wife Frances (Glenn) of 66 years and his son John Cartwright III. He is survived by his son Robert, daughters Judy, Carolyn, and Dorothy, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and brothers Hank and Jack.
We knew in time God would come to call your name. In life we loved you dearly and in death we do the same. Our Angel, spread your wings and fly with the blue birds.
The honoring of John’s life will be held at Greenwood Cemetery 2300 W Van Buren Phoenix, AZ 85015 on Wednesday, November 18,2015 at 12:00 pm.
