

He was born on April 24, 1947, in Chicago, IL, to Richard and Marian Crosby Eason. He grew up living in many parts of the southern United States, including Valparaiso, Indiana, and had called Arizona home since 2010. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
At the young age of 13, John achieved his Eagle Scout Merit Badge. He graduated from Aragon High School in San Mateo, CA, in 1965, where he played center on the varsity football team. John continued his love of sports during his college years, playing soccer on the club team at the University of Oregon, where he graduated in 1969. While at the University of Oregon, John was active in politics and was elected sophomore class vice president. He oversaw the homecoming planning committee, where he met his future wife, Debbie. During his time as a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, John served as house president and formed many lifelong friendships.
John worked for 30 years with the J.C. Penney Company, spending most of his career in retail management. After retiring, he pursued additional education to become a licensed pedorthist, specializing in providing shoes and custom orthotics for diabetic patients for 15 years.
John was raised Episcopalian and lived a life devoted to his family. He consistently attended his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. A devoted sports fan, he loved cheering for the Oregon Ducks and the Chicago Cubs. In his younger years, John was an avid runner who participated in many fun runs, including the Honolulu Marathon. He also enjoyed reading, particularly action-adventure novels and books about the Civil War.
John is preceded in death by his younger brother Rick and his parents, Marian and Richard Eason. He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his two children, Mitch and Julia; their spouses; five grandchildren, Ryley, Mya, Taylor, Cooper, and Eli; his brother Jeff and his sister Marcia, along with their spouses.
