

John Garza, age 52, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, after a brave battle with glioblastoma cancer. Born in Morenci, Arizona, John was a dedicated community servant and beloved family man. A proud graduate of Tempe High School, John served his community as a firefighter for 20 years with the Tempe Fire Department. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying courage and commitment throughout his life. Those who knew John often remarked on his quick wit and welcoming smile. His tremendous sense of humor and big personality brought joy to every gathering. Whether at the grocery store, the gym, or any outdoor activity, John had a unique ability to make friends wherever he went. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper who loved spending time outdoors. Golfing and cooking for his loved ones were two of his greatest passions.
John is survived by his wife, Liana Garza; their two children, John Jr. and Maya; and his constant companion, his dog Pepe. He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Nora Garza, and his sister, Elizabeth Pollock (Garza), along with her children, PJ and Brooke Pollock. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. John will be deeply missed, and his absence will be felt for many years to come.
