

John Heinley, 70, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025. Born on March 14, 1954, in Denver, Colorado, John was the beloved son of the late Jack and Marilyn Heinley and grew up with a strong sense of family and dedication that carried throughout his life.
John was a devoted husband to his wife, Carol (Stecker), with whom he shared over 38 beautiful years. Together, they built a loving family that became the center of John’s world. He was a proud father to his daughters Carrie (Taylor) and Marissa, and his sons Chad, Phillip (Leah), and Blake (Paige). His grandchildren—Landon, Carter, Hazel, and Adalyn—brought him immense joy and were a constant source of pride. John is also survived by his brother Mike (Shelley), sister Annie and brother-in-law Larry. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Marka.
A man of unwavering work ethic, John was known for his dedication and determination in all aspects of life. His proudest accomplishments were working for and opening stores for Safeway, Total Wine & More and At Home. No matter where he worked, John was a well respected and beloved manager. Whether it was through his professional endeavors or personal projects, he approached everything with diligence and care. Beyond his work, John found great fulfillment in nurturing beauty through flowers and landscaping. He had a creative spirit that shined brightly in the gardens he cultivated and the spaces he transformed. His love for creating extended beyond physical landscapes; it was evident in the relationships he nurtured with those around him.
John’s deep love for his family was at the heart of who he was. He took great pride in being an uncle, cousin, brother, papa and friend to all - he especially adored his time with his nieces Kori and Kristy whom he helped raise with Carol for several years. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren and took great delight in their laughter and accomplishments. His legacy is one of love, hard work, and creativity—a testament to the values he held dear. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him but especially by those closest to him who were touched by his kindness and devotion.
A funeral service to honor John’s life will be held at 10:00AM on February 10, 2025, at Ss. Simon & Jude Catholic Church located at 6351 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, Arizona 85017.
