

Heskett, John Franklin, passed away April 18, 2015, at Morningstar Memory Home. He was 91 years old. John was born February 13, 1924, in Nemaha, Nebraska to Frank Heskett and Maud Lawrence Heskett. He married Margaret (Joan) Weston in England in 1946, following his service in the US Army as a medic under Patton’s 3rd Army, where he helped liberate the Nazi concentration camps. His 3 children are: David John (wife, Dera, deceased), Gail Linda Buhr, and Paul Weston, who preceded him in death. There are 6 grandchildren: Jennifer, Somer, Jaclyn, Jessica, Jason and Brian and 5 great-grandchildren: Nathan, Adam, Logan, Lucy, Braiden and 1 Step-great-grandchild, Ryon. John attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and earned his BA degree from Western State University at Gunnison, CO. He was a certified hearing aid dispenser and ran Heskett’s Hearing Aid Center in Phoenix and Tucson for 47 years. He was past president of the Arizona Hearing Aid Society and was a life member of the International Hearing Society. He was also past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Auburn, Nebraska. John was a member of the Phoenix Rotary 100 Club, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shriner’s Club. An avid sportsman, he was a member of the Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society and a Big 10 Arizona hunter. The viewing will be Sunday, April 26th from 3-6 PM at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W Bethany Home Rd. A service will be held Monday, April 27th, 10 AM, at Madison Baptist Church, 6202 N. 12th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014, with military interment at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W Van Buren St. A Luncheon will follow at the church at Noon.
