Born 12-25-1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Died 12-13-2016 at home in Glendale, Arizona.
Graduated US Naval academy at Annapolis June 1953 completed a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering at USAF Institute of Technology at Wright Paterson AFB, Ohio in August 1960.
John served as Assistant Air Attaché to the American Embassy in Tokyo 1965-1969 and in Viet Nam 1969-1970. He served as a pilot in the US Air Force for 23 years retiring as a Major from Luke Air Force Base in 1977.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Lorene Williams Russell (Pittsburgh, PA).
His 3 children survive him: John Jr, Kendall and Pamela (Knigge),
5 Grandchildren: Sarah (VanGorp), Ryan Knigge, Kristen, Charlie and Joe Russell, along with 2 great grand children Tyler and Jason VanGorp.
