John Neal Shimek

John Neal Shimek passed away at his residence in Cave Creek, AZ on June 5, 2012. Neal was born in Urbana, IL to Louise and John Lyle Shimek on August 23, 1950. He had made his home in the Valley of the Sun for the last 45 years where he was a self-employed mechanic for 35 years. Neal liked cars starting at an early age. He had a passion for Mid 60’s Cadillac’s and late 60’s muscle cars. His true passion was restoring classic cars to perfection. He also enjoyed working on his five acres, weather it was digging with his old back hoe or raking around trees and shrubs. It put a simple smile on his face. He had a wealth of knowledge and talent that cannot be replaced without a lifetimes worth of hard work and devotion. He will be missed dearly by all the people whose life he was a part of over the last 61 years. Neal is survived by adored children Julianne, Jodie, Todd and Andrew Shimek and his very close friend and former wife of 32 years, Janie Shimek. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:00am at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 W Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
