John William Thrasher

John William Thrasher, age 90, passed away on October 18, 2016. John was born on June 22, 1926 in Lomita, California. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a teacher for many years at the Cartwright School District in Arizona, striving to achieve to the potential in his students, he knew they could achieve. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 2:00p.m until 4:00p.m. at Advantage Maryvale Funeral Home. 6901 W. Indian School Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85033. John will be laid to rest at West Resthaven Cemetery at 11a.m., Thursday, October 27, 2016.

Papa’s are great

Papa’s are fun

Some are tall, some are small

Mine has a belly as round as a bowl of jelly.

He laughs and jokes with everyone around.

Memories of the monkey on our back sure

Bring smiles to out face, as do the

Times of sharing cheese and crackers

In the big chair by his side.

He’s been a lot of help to us in our

Growing years, to shape and mold us into helpful ones.

If I could turn out to be as he, I would be as

Grand as grand could be.

He’s always near if needed,

And seems to know when that time is here.

How could I pick a better Dad, it just

Could not be done, as Lord you got

The very best when you picked out this one.
