Johnson Mathai of Glendale, AZ passed away at the age of 62 on 9/25/2024 after a life richly lived in service and kindness. Surrounded by his family and friends as he went to meet our Lord and Savior, Johnson was well-respected and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Johnson is survived by his wife Joy, son Jordan, stepdaughter and stepson Melissa and Richard, daughter-in-law Raven, son-in-Law Brandon, grandchildren Kaia, Michael, and Emma, mother Aleyamma, brother Joseph, sister-in-Law Binu, nephew and nieces Angela, Jonathan, and Julia. Johnson was preceded in death by his father N.J. Mathai Nellikattil.
Best known for the very caring, giving, and loving ways he treated everyone, Johnson was one that always made the most of each day while prioritizing family and friends. In addition, he held a great fondness for animals and exemplified that love often in many ways. Johnson was overjoyed to become a grandparent and valued those precious moments. His accomplished 40-year career with Hilton offered many amazing opportunities and accomplishments. After moving to the United States from India as a teenager, Johnson had the dream of meeting a President. He exceeded that goal and met 6 U.S. Presidents, along with many other close relationships formed within the U.S. Government and other prestigious organizations. Among the thousands of relationships formed, he will be dearly and forever missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to efforts dedicated to finding a cure for Pancreatic Cancer.
A religious ceremony for Johnson will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009. A funeral service will occur Friday, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a committal service will occur Friday, October 25, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, 719 N 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
