

Jose Olivas Olivas, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 90. He was born on October 30, 1934, in Phoenix, where he spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and the community he loved.
Jose graduated from Lowell Elementary School and went on to build a long and respected career in construction, working for Superlite Block and Bechtel. His dedication and craftsmanship were evident throughout his more than 50 years of service as a proud member of Local Union 383.
On September 22, 1956, Jose married the love of his life, Dalia Badilla Olivas. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership that spanned 52 years until her passing. Together, they built a family rooted in love, hard work, and tradition.
Jose was an avid sports fan, with a deep love for baseball, softball, slo-pitch, and basketball. He found joy not only in watching the games but in sharing his passion with those around him. In his later years, he enjoyed trips to the casino, where he found fun and excitement, but nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always donated to many charities including Wounded Warriors, St. Jude, Shriners, and many others. Jose would also at any time help anyone who needed it.
Jose is predeceased by his wife Dalia and his daughter Darlene. He is survived by his children: Yolanda Olivas, Josephine Olivas, Isidro (Vallerie) Olivas, Bernardo (Lannie) Olivas, and Ruthie Teresa (Terry) Gathercole. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 3 brothers. A legacy of love and strength that will continue to grow in their hearts.
Jose’s life was a testament to hard work, family, and joy in the simple moments. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held Thursday March 6th at 8:00 AM at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuaries. Funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with a burial to follow at West Resthaven Cemetery.
