Joseph Eugene Thomas

Joseph Eugene Thomas, born May 1, 1940, died June 6, 2020, Joe moved to Phoenix from Indiana when he was eight years old. He graduated from Sunnyslope High School and ASU with a B.A. in Education. On June 6, 1964, he married Nancy Hartman and together raised three children.

Joe taught for 38 years in the Washington Elementary School District and Saint Mary's High School. Joe and Nancy loved singing in the church choirs at St. Jerome's, Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral, St. Joseph's and St. Bernadette. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Charlotte, and his wife Nancy. He leaves behind three children, Patrick (Christy), Karen, and Cindy (Patrick) Dingman. And also three grandchildren, Jim, Sarah and Sam. Visitation will be on Friday, June 12, at 8:00 am at St. Mary's Basilica, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 am. Interment will be at St. Frances Cemetery.
