

Born April 28, 1938 in the southwestern hills of West Virginia, Chief, as he was known to most, was the second-oldest of the 9 children, Nina, Mary, Patty, Darlene (surviving), and John, Ralph Jr, Michael, Tom (deceased), plus two siblings who died as infants, of Ralph Richard and Ethel May Davis. Joining the Air Force Reserve immediately after high school, Chief started active duty service in 1956.
After 24 years of military moves, Chief and the family made their final move to Phoenix, where he retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1984. Spending his final career years as a security officer at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Chief retired in 1994.
Lifelong hunter of all of Nature’s bounty, but especially fond of squirrels and elk. Devoted Denver Broncos and New York Yankees fan, and excellent bowler.
Married in May 1959 Peggy Lou Moore, who preceded him in death in 2002, they had four surviving children Peggy, Penny, Patty and Luke, all living in the metro Phoenix area. Chief is also survived by his eight grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren
