

Juan "John" Manuel Vargas III, 41, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on March 28, 2026. He was born in Mission Hills, California on June 20th, 1984. He joined the U.S. Army in 2004 at the age of 19 as a MOS 13D - Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data Systems Specialist. He was deployed three times: twice to Afghanistan in support of Global War on Terror (GWOT) and once to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). John was a 3-time recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, a 3-time recipient of the Army Achievement Medal, a 2-time recipient of the Army Good Conduct Medal, and earned the Army Combat Action Badge. After proudly serving his country, John was Honorably discharged from the US Army Active Duty service in June 2011. Following his service he returned home to Arizona where he obtained his pilot's license and enjoyed flying, playing pool, riding motorcycles, attending his local American Legion and connecting with fellow service members, spending time with his family and his 2 cats, and being a Jokester. He is survived by his Mother, Linda Miller, step-father Shawn Miller, children Juan Vargas IV, Annalicia Vargas and Alycianna Vargas, brothers Anthony Vargas, Victor Dominguez, and Thomas Dominguez, step-siblings Josh Miller, Brittany Sanzari and Stephanie Bryant, Aunts, Cousins, 16 nieces and nephews, and many more family and friends who loved him. He will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona but will forever be in the hearts and memories of his family and everyone who loves him.
