June Travis

June Alice Travis 85, passed away on March 19, 2012. June was born Ada Oklahoma on June 24, 1926 to William and Nona Cook. Her family moved to Marinette AZ in 1937 during the dust bowl. The Cook family, June with her 6 sisters and 2 brothers made Peoria their home. June and Gene met while attending Peoria High School. They were best friends from the start. While Gene was in the Navy they married in 1946 and spent 66 wonderful years together. Her many talents included being an accomplished archer which won her the State Championship several times. She also enjoyed painting, sewing quilting and was a dedicated homemaker and her family always came first. She was a devoted Christian who shared her faith and love with others and was an inspiration to us all. Her son Robbi Travis preceded her in death and she is survived by her husband Gene, daughter Rebekah (Bob) Bonney, sisters Joan Christian, Sherry (Don) Smith, sister-in-law Jan Cook, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Phoenix Memorial Park & Mortuary 200 W. Beardsley Rd. Phoenix, Arizona.
