June Yvonne Coleridge

She married her husband and best friend Peter Coleridge on May 11, 2002. They were together for 27 years and enjoyed many years of togetherness and adventurous travels around the United States and Canada.

She was 74 when she departed after a lifetime struggle with CADASIL, a very rare genetic terminal disease. June Yvonne was born, raised and lived in Arizona State for 72 years and moved to Washington State where she lived for her last two years with Peter.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marina and Robert Martinez and her older brother Marvin. She is survived by her older sister Bonnie Mueller, a son and two beautiful granddaughters Maya and Lilia Buitron.

She attended Arizona State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree and went on to study at Northern Arizona University where she earned a Master’s degree in Education and Counseling. She worked for 34 years as a detention officer at the Maricopa Juvenile Detention Center in Phoenix. She was a tireless advocate for the children and families of Maricopa County. In addition, she was a caring and compassionate mentor to peers and staff and remembered by many for her integrity, respect and concern for others. In 2006 she was recognized as Detention Officer of the year in Maricopa County. She retired as a supervisor September, 2008.

She will be remembered at a memorial on October 24, 2026, at Nooksack Christian Fellowship in Nooksack, Washington and another memorial on November 7, 2026, at the A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary in Phoenix, Arizona. Each memorial will be followed by a reception where friends and family can share stories and memories of June Yvonne.
