Kathryn Yvonne Campbell

On January 12, 2025, Kathryn Yvonne Campbell closed her eyes to this world and entered heaven after having battled metastatic breast cancer. She passed on in peace at home with her husband of 30 years, William C. Campbell, by her side. Kathy is survived by four biological children, one adoptive son, and two step-daughters, as well as twenty-five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Kathy was born on July 20, 1953, in Madison, WI, to Roberta E. & Casper J. LaVeer, the youngest daughter among seven siblings. She moved with her parents to Phoenix at the age of four and later graduated from West High School, Class of 1971. Kathy met her first husband, Frank Lewis, while serving in a lounge where his band was performing. They immediately fell in love and were married in 1974. They settled in Phoenix and together they raised their children Matthew, Vincent, Christopher, and Lindsay. Frank joined the Phoenix Police Department and served for fifteen years until his untimely death in 1992 from leukemia.

Kathy began volunteering for the police department where mutual friends introduced her to William “Bill” Campbell who was serving as a ranking veteran police leader. They fell in love and committed their lives to each other. Bill had two daughters, Merideth Pickering and Amy Dragoo, and one son, David Campbell. After marrying, Kathy soon adopted Bill’s son David, and Bill adopted Kathy’s son Vincent and daughter Lindsay.

Kathy’s unwavering faith has been her foundation. Bill & Kathy attended Bethany Bible Church where they were very involved as church elders, scholars, and leaders. Kathy served two terms there as deaconess. She was an established leader with Bible Study Fellowship in both adult and children’s ministry for around thirty years. Throughout her life she enjoyed travel, crafting, sewing, knitting, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family in their second home east of Payson. She was loved by all and will be missed dearly.

A visitation for Kathy will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuaries, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, AZ.

Services for Kathy will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Phoenix Bible Church, 6060 N 7th Ave, Phoenix, AZ.
