Keith Frank Walker

July 11, 1952April 25, 2014

With heavy hearts we must say goodbye to Keith, our husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and even boss, but only for a while until we meet again on the other side. After two years of courageous battles to regain his health from throat cancer, Keith F. Walker passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday morning, April 25, 2014. Keith was born July 11, 1952 at Langley AFB in Hampton, VA. to Ernest and Betty Walker. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl; and sister, Brenda. He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Barry, Brian, and Shannon; and sisters, Carol (Steve), and Jill (Rick). Keith was a 42 year employee of “Ma Bell”, now Century Link. He received the Outstanding Service Provider Award for the Regional Field Supply Operations of 2013. Keith spent much of his youth at the Boys Club and was Phoenix Boy of the Year in 1969. He was an avid, lifelong fan of baseball and the Atlanta Braves, and was also a season ticket holder to the Arizona Diamondbacks until he lost his health. A memorial service will be held for Keith on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:00pm at Greenwood Memory Lawn Serenity Chapel, 2300 W. Van Buren St. Phoenix, AZ. 85009 or 719 N. 27th Ave. Phoenix, AZ. 85009. Scattering will follow in the Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery Rose Garden. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Arizona Humane Society, Boys and Girls Club of Arizona, or the charity of your choice.

Uncle Keith, Thank you for treating my Mom (Norma or as you called her Norms) and us kids so warmly. Also thank you for embracing my cousins (Barry and Brian) as your own sons. You were a gentle man that was very kind. Thank you for being a great husband to my Aunt Betty Ann. You will be missed.

To Keith's family, please accept my condolences and deepest sympathy. All the positive comments others have written truly reflects the man I knew - Keith was definitely one of the good guys to know and a pleasure to work with going all the way back to our Service Bureau days at Mountain States Telephone.

Keith - I knew you & worked for you and with you for soo many years....From age 20 to 62, I knew & admired you . I even told you, that you were my mentor, as you were for many!!! You will be truly missed by so many of us that worked around you or with you! ; (

His words as a manager were always "I Need You" to do whatever. He said he needed you. What a nice way for a manager to ask you, when other managers would command of you!

I remember the young school kid (Keith) on the YMCA Commercial who did every sport there- then went home & when asked what he did that day - said -"Nothing"! That's how he lived his life too! He did so much, loved his family & friends so much, - & yet was so humble. He was the strongest person inside - mentally, that I will ever have had the pleasure to have known! We will truly miss him.
Our hearts & prayers go out to all family & friends.

To the Walker family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this hard time. Keith was a great man during my high school years I spent many of days hanging out with Shannon. I can remember Keith teaching us how to play pool and he came to every badminton match we had. He was always so kind and any man who can deal with 5 teenage girls at his house all the time has patience. It's been many years since I have seen him but he made a big difference in my life and I will miss him dearly.

I grew up with Keith and will always consider him a friend. We lived next door to each other on Rancho Drive many, many years ago. He was a lot of fun and always very kind. It has been a long time since I have seen him or any members of his family. Just wanted to send my condolences to his family from someone in the old neighborhood. My mother, Jeanette Johnson, also sends hers.

I will always remember Keith as a positive person with a great sense of humor. He was fun to work with, and he always had something witty to say. He was a huge baseball fan and very proud of his family. His office had baseball memorabilia displayed on desk along with pictures of his family. Keith will be sorely missed. I extend my sincere condolences to Betty and family. Keith was one of the “good guys”. Susan Sweeden
